| Alicudi has just two flat areas: the first is Bazzina situated few meters above the sea level and the second is Dirittusu which is located near the higher mountain of the island ( Montagnole ) . From Scalo Paloma ( the port ) you climb up the stone steps through the village in the direction of S. Bartolo. On reaching the 16th century church of S. Bartolo ( 340 m a.s.l. ) you proceed towards Contrada Pianicello-Filo dell'Arpa-Dirittusu.The route is not always marked and often invaded by dense vegetation. Once you arrive at the plain of Dirittusu, sticking out carefully, you will see the cliff which characterises the N-NW side of the island , also place where we find a wide number of endemic plants |
