On April 23rd, under the patronage of UNESCO, World Book Day is celebrated worldwide. This date was chosen to honor the memory of some of the greatest authors in world literature who passed away on April 23rd, such as Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare. In Catalonia, Book Day is linked to the feast of Saint George, who, according to legend, defeated a dragon that was terrorizing a village. From the dragon’s blood, a field of red roses bloomed, and in return, Saint George received a book to remember the story of the liberated village.
