The Scoglio Faraglione (also called Scoglio di Pollara) is a small island located about 300 m away from the coast of Pollara, a small village of Salina. On this island nest the Mediterranean gull (Larus michahellis) and Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea); there are also two species of vertebrates: the common Wall Gecko (Tarentola mauritanica) and the Aeolian Wall Lizard (Podarcis raffoneae ). The most common plants are the Radicchio (Hyoseris taurine), the Limonium (Limonium minutiflorum), the Grattalingua (Reichardia picroides), Birdsfoot Trefoil (Lotus cytisoides) and the Carnation (Dianthus rupicola). |
