Stromboli, the most remote of the seven pearls of the Aeolian archipelago and Europe’s most active volcano, has since 2008 become home and inspiration for a unique celebration. The Festa del Fuoco di Stromboli is a celebration of the element of fire and the many ways we creatively interact with it as human beings. Stromboli, with its heart of fire and its active crater, erupting liquid lava several times every hour of every day, is the predestined place to host an event that has at its core the exhibition, exploration and exchange of the Fire Arts. As part of the Festa del Fuoco di Stromboli, workshops for children are held by the participating artists, allowing local and visiting children to get involved in exploring physical movement and creative expression. During these workshops, the children become part of the festival by creating decorations and installations and joining with the artists in the performances of the Festa del Fuoco.
