The traditional Mountain Festival returns to Salina
Locals and visitors gather at the summit of Monte Fossa delle Felci (962 m), the highest peak of the Aeolian Islands, for the usual "Festa della Montagna", held every spring and autumn. The hike begins around 10 AM from the Valdichiesa sanctuary, and the group makes a relaxed ascent to the shelter below Monte Rivi, at about 800 meters.
Everyone brings something to eat and drink, which is then shared. A day filled with barbecues, vegetarian dishes, homemade bread, local wine, and, of course, delicious desserts. One of the many ways the island community keeps alive the spirit of togetherness through old values and ancient traditions.
