Feast of Saint Peter
Panarea celebrates St. Peter, the island's patron saint, with deep devotion.
The statue of the Saint is carried on the shoulders of the faithful through the island’s main streets, accompanied by a band and moments of prayer.
The most captivating part of this procession comes when the statue is placed on a boat and continues at sea. A moving procession of the patron who protects the island from both land and sea, blessing the faithful, the lands, and the waters graced with natural beauty and richness.
The sea procession reflects the islanders’ passion for fishing — their primary livelihood and almost a natural calling for those born in this enchanting place.
