| The sanctuary, situated in Valdichiesa, is the most important place of Marian worship of the Aeolian Islands. It was built in 1630 on the ruins of an earlier sanctuary which dates back to ancient times, then restored in the second half of the 19th century. The sanctuary, with a Latin-cross plan, it is divided into three naves. Inside is housed a wooden statue depicting the Madonna. |
