| In the northeastern side of the island and on the stack La Canna there are colonies of Eleonora's falcon (Falco eleonorae), a migratory species that nests from spring to autumn. In the late autumn the falcon makes a long trans-migration, mainly following the coastal route through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, then to arrive in Madagascar and Mascarene Islands, places where it winters, and then go back to the Aeolian Islands in the spring. |
