The Monte Pelato , the youngest volcano of Lipari, is situated in the northeastern side of the island. The cone is composed by thick deposits of white pumice stones which came out in the last two eruptions of 8000 and 1500 years ago. On the Mount you can see the large lava flow of rhyolitic composition, Rocche Rosse, which is the result of the last eruption.
